Terms
What this website is, what it is not, and what you are actually buying when you buy a bundle.
Who you are dealing with
This website belongs to Isabel, trading as Learn Portuguese with Isabel, based in Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal. E-mail: learnportuguesewithisabel@gmail.com.
Your account
A free account gives you the free lesson, a place for the bundles you buy, your progress and your own notes. It is personal and cannot be transferred: it belongs to you, and the bundles on it are for you alone. Keep your password to yourself and do not let anyone else log in with it. You can delete the account yourself at any time in Account settings, and Isabel may close an account that is used to share or copy the lessons.
How buying a bundle works
Until online payment opens, bundles are bought by e-mail instead: you write to Isabel (the “Ask Isabel to join” button on each bundle starts the e-mail for you), she replies with how to pay, and once she has received your payment she unlocks the bundle on your free account. The price is the one shown on this site, and everything else in these terms applies in the same way. The paragraphs below describe the online checkout, which takes over once it opens.
Bundles are bought online, on this site’s checkout page. You need your free account first, because the bundle opens on it. At checkout you see the bundle, what it includes and its price, and you accept these terms. You then pay on the secure payment page of Stripe, the payment company Isabel uses, where the ways to pay (card and others) are shown before you confirm. This site never sees your card or bank details.
As soon as Stripe confirms the payment, the bundle opens on the account you were logged in with. Some methods (for example a Multibanco reference) are confirmed later; the bundle opens by itself when they are. Stripe can e-mail you a receipt.
If some lessons of a bundle are still being uploaded when you buy it, the bundle page and the checkout say so, and each lesson appears on your account as soon as it is ready, at no extra cost.
Prices
The prices are the ones Isabel publishes: €49 for each bundle of eight lessons, €220 for the World Bundle (all 6 bundles) and €300 a month for the private lesson package (four sessions). They are in euros and may change; the price that applies is the one shown at checkout when you pay.
What you get when you buy a bundle
Lifetime access to the lessons of the bundle you bought, on your own account. Isabel does not put a time limit on it: you can come back to the lessons whenever you like, as often as you like. It cannot mean longer than the lifetime of this website and of the service that hosts the videos.
The lessons are video lessons you watch online, inside your account. They are digital content: nothing is posted to you and there is nothing to download.
The lessons are for you only
What you buy is the right to watch the lessons yourself. You are not allowed to share your login or let other people watch through your account, to record, download or copy the lesson videos, or to pass them on, upload, sell or republish them anywhere else. For that reason, the protected lessons show your e-mail address on the picture, so that a copy can be traced back to the account it came from.
Refunds
Refunds are handled case by case by Isabel. If something is wrong with a purchase, or you would like to ask for a refund, e-mail her at learnportuguesewithisabel@gmail.com from your account address, saying which bundle it is about. A refund of an online payment is made through Stripe. None of this limits your rights as a consumer under Portuguese or EU law.
Private lessons
Private lessons are four sessions a month, one a week, live on Zoom. They are booked by e-mail, and scheduling, rescheduling, payment and what happens if you miss a lesson are agreed directly with Isabel.
The free tools
The level test, sound trainer and verb trainer are offered free and as they are. The level result is an indication, not an assessment or a qualification. The tools run in your browser; the only thing kept on the server is a level-test result saved to your account.
What belongs to whom
The logo, the course materials, the videos and the text on this site belong to Isabel. The photographs of Portugal used for illustration are free stock photographs from Pexels, used under the Pexels licence. Please do not copy the course content or republish it.
Links to other places
This site links to YouTube and Facebook, plays lesson videos from YouTube or Bunny Stream, and takes online payments through Stripe. What happens on those services is governed by their own terms, not by these.
Law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer under Portuguese or EU law.
