Hello — I'm Isabel.
A native Portuguese speaker and language teacher with over twenty-five years of experience, teaching students from all over the world. These days I teach online, from the Algarve.
How it started
“My passion for teaching Portuguese began when I started helping international students at my university. I discovered that I had a natural ability to break down complex grammar rules and make learning enjoyable and accessible.”
More than twenty-five years later, that is still the job: taking something that looks impossible on the page — the subjunctive, the swallowed vowels, the pronouns that hop about — and turning it into something you can say out loud without thinking twice.
In that time Isabel has helped hundreds of students learn Portuguese through private tutoring. Her teaching moved online, first to Zoom and then into self-paced video lessons, so that the same lessons could reach people nowhere near the Algarve — and fit around their own week.

Isabel’s short videos are not filmed in front of a whiteboard. They are shot in the places the words belong to — the pastelaria, the beach, the petrol station, the health centre — which is exactly where you will need them. The channel is new, and there are nine so far.
